General Background

Two of Elaine’s books have been finalists for the annual Chanticleer Mystery and Mayhem awards. Elaine's play, Permission to Hope received a staged reading at the Writer’s Center of Bethesda, Maryland, and Biding Time was a finalist for the National Press Club’s first fiction contest. She presents brief workshops on topics such as electronic publishing and writing mysteries for organizations such as local libraries, the Chamber of Commerce, and Sisters in Crime chapters.

Elaine has degrees from the University of Dayton and the American University. She has taken journalism coursework at the University of Maryland, as well as many fiction courses from The Writer’s Center in Bethesda, MD, Georgetown University’s Continuing Education Program, the University of Iowa Summer Writing Program, Gotham, and Midwest Writers Workshop. She is a regular attendee at Magna Cum Murder in Indianapolis.
