I've been making up stories for as long as I can remember. My mother always said I'd go around the barn to get in the barn door when telling a story and she's pretty much right.
I devoured books as a kid (after my mom bribed me into reading a romance novel instead of comics) and hoped that one day I would get to write some of my very own. As I grew up, that dream became a reality and today I'm very happy to be able to do what I absolutely love - write down what the voices in my head tell me to write.
One of the strangest things about being a writer is that I don't know everything that's going to happen in my story, even when I plot it out. A good example is what happens near the end of Keys to Submission. I totally did not see the twist coming. I had actually planned for that dramatic event to be carried out by someone else entirely. The entire time I was writing that scene I was gasping and yelling at the screen "Oh no you didn't!" But yes... the character did. And without so much as a bye-your-leave.
I've learned to listen to the voices.
