M T Magee

Hi Everyone,
My name is M.T.Magee and I live in New England on our small farm with my husband and son.
We raise an assortment of silly goats, quiet rabbits, far too many ducks and chickens, and a high strung Border Collie cross named Gronk. I have always loved fantasy and fell in love with Tolkien at age eleven. I read all of his works at age twelve. I have been writing stories since I was ten years old and have always wanted to be an author. After fulfilling my dream of becoming a nurse, marrying the love of my life and having two wonderful sons, I have finally been able to fulfill my first dream of publishing my first book. My youngest son is severely disabled and I am his full-time caregiver. The long winter months here in New England make it virtually impossible to go out very often, so I used this time to begin my story The Treasure of Gwenlais. Fifteen months and 1144 pages later I am very happy to present my story to all of you. I love strong female characters, who are still able to convey a sense of vulnerability and be very relateable. I also love strong male leads who are not afraid to show their soft side. Love of family is important to me as I am sure it is to everyone and I convey this in my story.
So welcome to the world I have created and I hope you enjoy visiting often. I hope you all enjoy the brilliant work of my cover artist Tyler Donnelly.
The world I have created, comes from the inspiration of both my Scottish heritage and my husband's Irish descent, with pride and respect for both cultures. The beauty of the Scottish Highlands, as well as the lush rolling meadows of Ireland, serve as a backdrop for the mythical realm of Rienfield. Many of the names of villages and towns that are used are actual names of towns and villages of Scotland and Ireland. They are used in direct correlation for what their rich past made them known for and is applied with loving respect for their history in the story. Many of the names of the characters are Irish, Scottish, or Gaelic, again showing my love and admiration for our heritages. The characters also speak Old Irish, from time to time, referring to it as 'old speak.' I hope you will find this as fascinating and beautiful as I did. You will find the Kingdoms of Gwenlais and Heathwin filled with wonder, danger, adventure, romance, love of family as well as betrayal.
The people, races, and beings, will beckon you to return and visit, over and again, sharing in their joys, sorrows, tragedies and triumphs. The photos I have added our my inspirations for the backdrop of my story.

Richard Armitage, is the physical inspiration for my male lead Caleb, and is actually a funny story. My husband and oldest son were watching BBC's Robin Hood. I looked up from my computer and said
" Oh my gosh that's Caleb!" Both son and husband look at each other and then me in total confusion.
"No hon, this is Guy of Gisborne," my husband informed me.
I then preceded to explain, that the character Caleb in my book looks just like that. Both husband and son look at each other again smirking, then turn back to watch the show. That is when I started paying more attention to Richard Armitage.
I was able to create my female lead Laurel, in The Treasure of Gwenlais, by going to a make over site, looked for a model who resembled what I had envisioned Laurel to look like. I adjusted eye color, skin tone, hair style and color, eyebrow shape. Then Laurel was born.

So my friends, find your comfortable reading place, and immerse yourself in the lives of the warm, courageous, humorous, and sometimes frightening characters, which make up the world of Rienfield.

A Note From M T Magee

A few of my reviews from KOBO and
Author pleasantly surprised me.
A beautifully written fantasy world, with unique cultures and beings. Magee is a classic storyteller. I loved how the author used actual places in both Scotland and Ireland and made it her own world. The characters are well developed and drawn out, including the secondary characters, full of depth and each with a very different personality, no wallpaper characters here. I enjoyed watching the heroine Laurel grow as the story progressed. The hero, Caleb, was brave, passionate, but tender and loving to the heroine's needs. The growing romance between them was a joy to experience. I liked the mystery and intrigue with the story line. I enjoyed a new race to the genre, the Rabkins. A fascinating race that was obviously the author's take on indigenous peoples. I also enjoyed the use of the Gaelic language throughout the story. I have not read fantasy in some time as the new take on the genre I find too dark and often times brutal and demeaning to women. Ms. Magee handles this beautifully and adds just the right amount of humor amid the tragedy. Her prose was lovely, something not often done in fantasy nowadays. Be prepared this is not a story you will finish in two days, and is the first of a series. I found it engaging, moving, romantic, and with some laugh out loud moments. Well worth my time. I look forward to the next installment. Don't leave us waiting too long M.T. Magee.

This is the 1st book & debut novel of MT Magee, which just astonished me, since I would consider this some of the finest fantasy to come out in years.
She magically transports you to a world of marvelous creatures,Prince & Princesses.A world of intrigue, mystery, betrayal & love. I was spellbound.
Her characters, both main, Princess Laurel & Prince Caleb & secondary were so complex & so beautifully written, that their emotions became mine...I felt every betrayal, sorrow & love that they did. This book truely speaks to the heart...I consider this an absolute "must-read", but be warned, it's a cliffhanger.
Hurry up Spring, I'm ready to continue my adventure.Thank you Ms.Magee...your one of a rare breed, not just a writer but a master storytellers, a Bard of old .
Format: Kindle Edition
Wow. For a first novel M.T. Magee has captured a wonderful story full of intrigue and romance. Laurel can be a bit of a spoilt brat with all of her poutiness and temper, but as Caleb says it makes her quite endearing.

I loved the cameraderie between Caleb and his brothers and i admit to having a few chuckles. This book has it all, laughter, seriosness, as Caleb is quite often worried about the welfare of Laurel and intrigue, can't say much as it will spoil things, but above all, romance. Laurel and Caleb are truly in love.

Definitely a keeper and one that i shall read and read again

I just hope that we don't have to wait too long for book 2 to find out what is in store for the villains, I just hope it will be very fitting.

In this epic fantasy romance, I fell in love with the journey of Prince Caleb of Heathwin and Princess Laurel of Gwenlais. A mixture of heartache and hope--intrigue and suspense. And of course, love. I was swept away into another realm, captivated by this beautiful world that Ms. Magee has created. I'm a huge fan of secondary characters and found so many enduring ones that became my favorite. Be prepared to take an incredible journey--to be spellbound within the pages of this beautifully written story. So many twists and surprises. I am eagerly anticipating the next in this new series!
