Martha Moffett

I was born at the end of a dirt road in St. Clair County, Alabama, was a student in Hudson Strode's writiing class at the U. of Alabama, then worked in publishing in New York City (GQ, American Heritage Dictionary, Ladies' Home Journal). I returned to a small southern town (Lantana, Florida, another dirt road), where I was chief librariean for the tabloids. When asked what that was like, I say, "It's like being thrown into a Victorian workhouse.

Along the way, I raised three wonderful children and wrote in several forms--novels, short stories, children's books, essays. Also did some ghostwriting when I discovered that I could write in another's voice, could write the book he would write if he could write.

Recently my first novel, which I wrote on the NYC subway going back and forth to work, has been republished with a handsome cover: THE COMMON GARDEN. And my new novel, PICNIC IN EDEN, has just been posted on Amazon.
