Mary Ann Webber

Like most writers, I began writing fiction in elementary school. Writing took a backseat as life became my biggest challenge.
I wanted it all - marriage, home, children, grandchildren, and a teaching career in Virginia and Arkansas. There was little time for anything else, but my early life experiences now, I believe, add depth to my characters.
During the years my writing was on hold, I collected history books relating to periods I find fascinating. I often spend more time researching than writing.
The Americas provide the backdrop for all my stories. This continent's history gives me a wide range of settings for romances.
My favorite era is the thirty-five year period between the Civil War and 1900. It's called the Gilded Age, and what sounds more romantic than that? I also love the Old Dominion, Virginia in the 1600's, and I work intermittently on a novel set in that place and time.
After early retirement I moved to Dallas to be near my children and grandchild. I've immersed myself in writing. It's now what defines me.
