Pat A Brown

Southern California, where I lived from 1978 to 1986 was for me the land of dreams and lies, where illusion battled daily with reality, and reality rarely wins. People ask why I write. It's simple really, I write to give the little voices inside of me an outlet. Otherwise they'd drive me crazy.

So it was probably fitting that I spent eight years there. L.A. Heat grew out of those sometimes dark, always fascinating days. Like nearly everyone else who makes the trip, I went to Hollywood to reinvent myself. But I quickly discovered that in Hollywood, writers have about as much cachet as what a dog leaves on your lawn. Did I stop writing? Hell no, I just stopped telling everyone I was a writer, and just kept perfecting my craft.

In 2005 a dream come true, I got a job in Bermuda as a network engineer in an offshore law firm. Those were heady times. In 2006 my first mystery, L.A. Heat finally came out. I was now officially a published author. There is nothing quite so enthralling as holding your own book in your hands.

Now in 2009 my writing life is in full swing. I have 2 books in print and ebook, and 8 more novels or novellas under contract. The next book out will be L.A. Boneyard, coming out later this year from MLR Press

A Note From Pat A Brown

I write a series set in contemporary Los Angeles, dealing with an LAPD homicide detective, very much in the closet and his lover, a computer analyst who prowls the night club scene in West Hollywood and Silver Lake. How this unlikely pair team up to stop a horrific serial killer targetting young gays and fall in love over the course of this harrowing adventure is the core of L.A. Heat.

Here you'll find a link to book reviews and LAPD's Northeast Community Police Station where David Eric Laine plies his trade.
