Sheila Claydon

'First, find out what your hero wants. Then just follow him.'

'I really identify with this quote by author Ray Bradbury. Plots, chapter outlines, characterization; I know all the rules and I faithfully follow them each time I start to write a new story. Then the hero takes over and I follow him instead...'

I started writing when my children were small, fitting it in around nap time and school pick up. I had some successes too but then life got in the way and before I knew it I had turned my back on the characters who were begging to be liberated from my imagination, and stopped writing.

Now, many years and a career in health and education later, I am writing fiction again and enjoying my growing reputation as a slightly eccentric senior who doesn't know when to bow out!
