After college and graduate school, I ventured into the film industry. For many years I was a freelance script analyst, evaluating screenplays, novels, and non-fiction books (main client: HBO). I also reviewed scripts for the Nicholl Fellowship, a screenplay competition sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. During this time, I wrote screenplays and had two optioned. But my childhood dream was to be a novelist, so when I moved back to Texas I decided it was time to make the dream a reality.

Due to my “indie” spirit, I chose the self-publishing path for my debut novel, THE DIVORCED NOT DEAD WORKSHOP, a romantic comedy with a whopping side dish of chick lit/lighthearted women's fiction. I chose to treat the serious subject of divorce (and the subsequent anxiety producing re-entry into the dating world) with humor as I believe it is vital to creating a happier life. Part of my inspiration came from Mark Twain who said, "Humor is mankind's greatest blessing" and from comedian turned US senator, Al Franken, who said, "Humor and seriousness are not in opposition to each other."

I’m continuing to write and intend to have my second novel out in the summer of 2014.
