Can two in the closet moms find happiness with each other and their family? Reese and Lynn are attracted to each other and would like to live together now that their children are all grown up, in love and going to college. But coming out to their children might be more than they bargain for. Will the children accept having lesbians moms? Or will they force them to break up?
Reese circled her finger on the yellow lemon as if it were Lynn’s nipple, her divorced neighbor. She could feel the soft texture of the skin, while thinking about how sour the encounter had been with Lynn just a few moments ago.
“I can’t believe my son Jake wants to marry your daughter Olivia.” Lynn said while she helped Reese squeezing the lemons. “And here we are, soon to be a family and making their favorite drink on a hot day.”
Reese couldn’t understand her excitement. She was losing her daughter to Lynn’s son. So in a moment of rage she felt like speaking up. “I don’t understand what you’re so happy about? Our kids are still too young to be engaged, yet they still do whatever they want and had been having sex since day one--”
“Day one since he’d asked her to be his girlfriend you must mean.”
“Yeah, that.” Reese reached out and held Lynn’s arms across from her, her chest looking admirably nice in front of her. “I’m a single mom who’s this close to stay alone for the rest of my life and you’re very fresh out of a divorce. Our grown kids are going to college together. When are we going to tell them?”
“What do you mean?” Lynn asked but then trembled in realization. “Oh, that. I can’t. It’s still too soon for them to know.”
Reese eyed her face and then her chest, her mouth watering. When her eyes reverted to Lynn’s face, she saw fear in her eyes.
“We can’t deny it any longer, Lynn. You got divorced because of me.”
Lynn shook her head. “No! I can’t talk about that now. Let’s keep making the lemonade.”
“For what? To keep doing what we’ve always been doing? Denying our attraction while we always make the best of things to not get caught again?” Reese threw one of the lemons across the floor, she was so tired of everything. She felt guilty for getting caught by Lynn’s husband when she was kissing Lynn on the lips. He was so angry and couldn’t accept that he married a lesbian. It didn’t help that Lynn made things complicated with her fear and lack of coming forward to her family.
