A career military man, Viktor lives for the next mission – and his collection of weapons -- but a raid on an experimental lab makes him an unwilling protector, mostly because he can’t peel Renee off. A cold blooded croc, he never intended to settle down, but he didn’t count on a foxy lady warming his heart.
The world outside the laboratory was a big scary place. Unsure of how to deal with it, Renee latches onto the biggest, baddest, and sexiest, warrior around. Sharp toothed and with ice in his veins, Viktor’s violent side should have sent her running, but instead, she finds the courage to face her fears –and tame the lizard.
When danger comes knocking, with the intention of turning her lizard into a high priced fashion accessory, will Renee embrace her foxy side and show a croc she’s got what it takes to be his mate?

Ms. Langlais does it once again, never disappointing her readership by packing the Croc and the Fox with subtle humor, eroticism, love, discovery of one’s self, and emphasizing how true devotion can change the paths we take in life.

Croc and the Fox is another wonderful tale about the shifters who keep the world safe. Eve Langlais has developed a unique world that co-exists along side ours where shifters are agents and protectors. I love that in all of Eve’s FUC stories, the shifters are different than your ordinary wolves. She has animals like swans, bears, and crocodiles

Review:
Eve Langlais is a favourite author of mine and any book she writes is a must buy! She has written many different books from sci-fi, to paranormal shape shifters to books about demons and hell. The Furry Coalition Series (FUC) is a series about shifters and to date there are three books in this series. While they can be read as stand alone, I would definitely recommend reading them in order as there are characters that pop up in other books and it is always good to know who they are and how they got together.
In this, the third book in the series, Croc and the Fox, I finally got to see a favourite and rather intriguing character who has made appearances in the other books in the series get matched up. Viktor is a croc shifter and if you think that is strange, then get the other two books in the series and read them because there are shifters of animals you would never ever think of!
Viktor is a coldblooded croc shifter, who never intended to settle down, yet his partner found her mate and then slowly everyone around him is getting mated. He goes on a mission to raid an experimental lab run by the nemesis of the FUC, the Mastermind, an evil person who is also a shifter, but what kind of shifter was never revealed. What was revealed about the Mastermind was he/she had this huge chip on his/her shoulder about his/her size. The Mastermind has brains, there is no doubt about that, but this evil shifter is using them for all the wrong reasons! Let’s hope FUC will finally kick some Mastermind butt!
Viktor goes on the raid to rescue anything they find, and he ends up becoming the protector to Renee who has been held captive for so long that she has no memories of who she really is. She has no name until Viktor gives her one. The open sky scares her, as do a lot of other things and you really feel for this poor shifter who was only ever called Project or Project X081.
Upon rescuing Project, Viktor also becomes her rather unwilling protector. She is cute, but it seems all she does is scream and hang onto him for dear life, and this is something the coldblooded croc Viktor is definitely not used to. However, the more it happens, the more you could say he is getting used to it! When he finds out about her life he just wants to punch someone and for a rather distant coldblooded reptile shifter, he becomes possessive and protective rather quickly much to the amazement and surprise of his workmates. This in itself is the cause of much hilarity which sees Viktor raising his finger to an awful lot of people!
It was great to see Viktor pair up with Renee and see her come out her shell and also see Viktor realize his feelings for Renee. She says what she feels and what she wants and Viktor is so attracted to her but he wants to be strong as he thinks she is only latching on to him as she doesn’t have anyone else. He’s certainly being the good croc that he is because doesn’t want to take advantage of a female in the state that Renee is in. The poor thing can’t even shift and she is scared of everything and she has no memories of family or friends! There is one thing Renee does have that might help the FUC, she knows what the Mastermind looks like. But she fails to mention that to Viktor and the others.
This failure and Viktor’s momentary lapse of control in favour of delving into the delights of Renee’s body lead them into a dangerous and life threatening situation. Can Renee call upon her inner fox and unleash it to save Viktor? Will they catch the Mastermind before the evil thing causes even more misery and damage?
I loved both of these characters and enjoyed seeing much more of Viktor and seeing how Renee heated up his cold blood. I have been waiting since book number one to read more about Viktor and to see who he would be mated to and how his story would develop and this book hasn’t disappointed.
Ms. Langlais hit all of the right notes with Croc and the Fox. We get Viktor, Renee, some off the charts loving and some well deserved ribbing and teasing, as well as dangerous and life threatening situations! We also get a close encounter with the Mastermind and a croc and a fox who find out that hot and cold go well together!
