Having moved out east, Matt and Adam have renovated the big old house they bought, turning it into The Briar Rose, a BDSM B&B. With Adam's experience as a professional sub and Matt's patience and knowledge, they hope to help other couples find their way in the BDSM lifestyle.
Their first guests are Jackson and Burger, a well-known singer and his manager. The couple are not exactly what Adam and Matt expect, but they do what they can to help the other men learn to communicate and find trust.
Singer Jackson has just had an operation on his vocal chords and has been ordered not to speak for at least two weeks, something he's having a hard time doing. Burger brings Jackson to the Briar Rose in the hopes of not only keeping the singer resting and quiet, but in rekindling their on-again-off-again love affair and making it on-again, permanently. Can they find what they need at The Briar Rose?
Matt and Adam first appeared in Sold, a Hammer novel, and are the foundation for the new Briar Rose series by Sean Michael.
Jackson couldn't believe Burger was doing this to him. It was bad enough that the doctors had made him cancel his tour, made him cancel his TV appearances. But then they'd said no on recording. So, Jackson had had a little bit of a screaming meltdown.
So he'd thrown some shit, broken up a hotel room. So what! He was a fucking star!
Burger's hand was solid in the small of his back, propelling him forward. God, they were in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. And it was snowing. Snowing! It was only frigging October!
There was a couple standing by a desk that had a computer on it, a couple of chairs in front of it.
"Welcome to the Briar."
He opened his mouth to say thank you and Burger shook him a little. Fucker.
"Hi there. I'm Burger and this is Jackson. He's not allowed to talk."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm Adam and this is my Master, Matt. Welcome."
"Thanks." He could feel Burger relaxing, just a bit. "Would it be rude if we asked just to be shown to our room for now? It's been a long day."
"Of course not. Would you like some coffee or cocoa brought up?"
Jackson looked over at Burger. Room. As in one?
Burger totally ignored him. "Cocoa sounds good, actually. Maybe something a little sweet to go with it?"
"Absolutely." Matt smiled. "Supper in the kitchen tonight is a vegetable soup and there's chocolate cake that we can deliver to your room."
"That'd be great. We'll be sociable tomorrow. Tonight we just want to get settled."
"We'll bring your bags up for you." Adam held his hand out, and Burger dropped the keys into the man's palm.
"I..." The word was squeaked out and Burger shook him again.
"Don't make me beat you, Jacks."
He stared at Burger, then went to storm out. Burger's arm went around his waist, tugged him in close.
"I'll show you up to your room," Matt said, turning and headed up the wide staircase.
Adam's soft chuckle filled the room. "I'll bring the bags and get your vehicle snug in the garage."
"Thanks, guys." Burger moved them up the stairs after Matt. Pushy asshole.
