FBI Agent Jack Pallas spent two years of his life deep undercover in the Martino mob family. When his cover is blown trying to protect a made DEA agent, he’s tortured for two days before he’s able to take advantage of a lapse by his torturer to save himself.
Brand new U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde is given the Pallas/Martino case. There’s a definite attraction between them. That attraction bites the dust when Cameron has to inform Jack there isn’t enough evidence to pursue the case.
Fast forward three years. Cameron is the sole witness to a murder and Jack is the lead investigator, freshly returned from Nebraska. Get comfy and enjoy the ride that follows their reunion.
Something About You is a prime example of contemporary romance. Your attention is immediately snagged and held by a really great story, characters and writing. Jack and Cameron are both strong characters and never do they seem forced or unbelievable. Wilkins, Amy and Collin are also well developed, engaging and I really enjoyed that Collin wasn’t stereotypical. The witty banter between Jack and Cameron is delightful. The situations that separated and brought them together are interesting and I really appreciated the way the sexual tension was ratcheted up to teeth gnashing level. Kept me reading and wondering. The mystery is no mystery to the reader. The moment Jack started connecting the dots—the ensuing events were pretty intense—had me feverishly reading to the end. Something About You is well paced and plotted, smartly written, with great characters I’d want to have as friends. It’s a keeper.
