Wolf's Valentine is a heart-warming story, with a touch of adventure and sensuality that's guaranteed to leave you sighing with a smile on your face during Valentine's Day. If Jana doesn't want Malcolm, I'll definitely take him. :) Undeniable love is always a sensual aphrodisiac on Valentine's Day and Wolf's Valentine by Rebecca Royce has definitely cornered the market. I can't wait to see what happens next in the Westervelt series.

I loved the way that Ms. Royce allowed us to see the minds and hearts of both Malcolm and Jana. Valentine’s Wolf is a nice quick short read that stands alone very nicely, but when taken in context of the series, is even better. And it was a definite treat to get to know another mated pair. Even at one-third the length of the other books in the series, this story contained the same excitement and romance.

Valentine’s Day is a day for lovers but what do you do when you receive an anonymous Valentine that could be taken as a threat or a cruel trick? Running away is always a good option!

...this is a very short story, but even with the brevity you feel the power behind the relationship that develops. Ms. Royce is just fantastic at developing her characters.

Imagine being exiled from your home for years and not being able to return unless you actually have a death wish. Years ago a crazy Alpha almost decimated his entire pack in such a horrific way it left scars on all those who remain to this day, only to be thwarted by his wife. A curse hung over the island that Jana called home for so long and that curse is why she had left and why she is living among the humans in New York City. Jana is a shifter and she has been living without her own kind for a long time—she is alone and she is also lonely. Her wolf is also alone and the chances of finding her mate in New York are negligible, if nigh on impossible.
Jana gets a Valentine's card and promptly throws it away—not sure of who put it on her desk. All she longs for is the open spaces and the chance to go for a run and release her wolf and instead she gets an invitation for Valentine's Day—definitely something she wasn't expecting! Her invitation comes from Malcolm Denon, who is working security for her boss, but he isn't a shifter or is he? What is it about him that makes her perk up when he is near? Malcolm is definitely all male and then some. He reminds Jana of home in a way.
Malcolm gets attacked by manufactured wolves, fights them off and still manages to make it to his date with Jana. She is his mate and when a bloody and injured Malcolm meets her for their date, she recognizes what she did not before—he is a shifter like her and her wolf likes him. Will they be safe and make it through the night and find out why there are so many manufactured wolves in Manhattan? Will they find out what all of this has to do with their boss Carl?
Wolf's Valentine is part of a series written by Rebecca Royce—The Westervelt Wolves series. It is a short story which can be read as a standalone, but it is better to read the others in the series to really understand the back story of the fight against the demented former alpha of the pack and the curse, as well as the manufactured wolves that they are fighting against. The characters are well written and have a dimension to them that is not normally found in a short story—Jana and Malcolm each have their own insecurities that they need to deal with and all of this is carefully woven into the story. The back story also captures the reader’s attention and you end up hoping that the shifter who caused all of this pain for the wolves of Westervelt will finally get his comeuppance. Read the series to learn more about the wolves that make up the Westervelt Pack. Ms. Royce has written a great series with hunky shifters and their strong females that keeps you interested and longing for the next installment!
