An irresistible novel about women, men, and the dogs that own them.
Thirty-nine year old Rachel is having a really bad year. After losing her job and breaking up with her boyfriend, Rachel has inherited her late aunt's house, her beloved border collie, and a crowded rescue kennel, despite the fact that she knows almost nothing about dogs. Still, considering her limited options, she gamely takes up the challenge of running the kennel. And as Rachel starts finding new homes for the abandoned strays, it turns out that it might not just be the dogs that need rescuing.

Rachel, thirty-nine, has pretty much lost everything she held dear; her boyfriend, who happens to be a married man, and her career that she’d put her heart and soul into. She inherits her late aunt’s house including a rescue kennel for dogs. Dogs…something she has no experience with and no desire for. But it’s all she has at the moment so she dives in and finds more than she expected…especially when she finds herself pregnant…
Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts is a magnificent and heartwarming tale. There are many facets to this book including a few side stories that will hook any reader. Set in England it has a British feel and is quite true to form. Rachel really has to dig to find out what she wants in life and is quite surprised at what she finds. So many ends she must find and tie. The romance in the story isn’t overwhelming or the only focus. Also, it was refreshing to read about someone not amazing wealthy or young and beautiful but real and down to earth. I would highly recommend Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts to any avid reader, even cat lovers...
