Margred is a selkie that has been around for centuries but is lonely since her mate died. She craves the touch of someone but not just anyone will do. Plenty of male selkies have offered but their touch isn’t enough. Then she meets Caleb Hunter the local police chief of the little Maine island of World’s End. His touch she feels in her soul but he is just a human? Margred and Caleb can’t have a future, their species are too different. Caleb has never desired a woman the way he craves Margred but who is this mysterious woman? Now a murderer seems to be killing single tourist women on his island and Caleb suspects that he is after Margred, can he keep her safe?
Margred and Caleb have a unique, passionate relationship but is passion enough to overcome all the obstacles of two extremely different cultures and even life spans? A selkie is immortal and Caleb is not. Selkie’s crave the sea, so will Margred even be able to resist the pull of the ocean or is she destined to leave Caleb? How can Margred live as a human, she has no identity, no past, no future; could a mysterious woman just appear in today’s times without causing an uproar? There are so many interesting issues and conflicts facing this couple’s potential romance that it seems impossible. I enjoyed the opposite personalities of Margred and Caleb. Margred is very free spirited, live for the moment and take what you want from life. Caleb is serious, determined to keep everyone on his island safe, and generally not a risk taker. His life is planned and organized and Margred is like a whirlwind tearing through everything he thought he knew. In addition to all these problems, there is an evil presence out there that wants to kill Margred and her kind. Caleb is determined to stop it but he has no idea what he is really up against. Sea Witch is filled with intrigue and passion and I found it a very pleasurable read! I am looking forward to reading the sequel which will feature some of the secondary characters from this story.
