The Garrison family has been involved in NASCAR racing for three generations and despite some rough patches the family is still strong in the industry. Rachel Garrison manages the team and their office and she is tired of people wanting to know her just to have a connection to her family. Rachel has decided she will no longer date anyone who has anything to do with racing. Parker Huntington is the CEO of his family hotel business and a major sponsor of the Garrison racing program. Parker is used to getting what he wants, when he wants it, and he wants Rachel. Rachel however, appears to be resistant to his charms. Neither of them is willing to risk their hearts so they are at an impasse. No matter how sexy Parker is, Rachel isn’t going to let anyone involved in racing into her personal life. Parker doesn’t want a relationship, just a fling or so he thinks. But what if there is more than chemistry behind their attraction?
Risking Her Heart is really cute and fun. I love this world of NASCAR with its high speed adrenalin rush, emotional ups and downs, sexy drivers and crews, and strong women and families. This is the second book about the Garrison family. The first book, No Holding Back, was Cade and Isabel’s story and they still have to come to terms with the changes in their lives in this story. But this time it is Rachel’s turn! You can read this book stand alone, if you wish, but Cade and Isabel’s story is a fun read too and you may be sorry you missed it.
Rachel and Parker are some of the most stubborn, pig headed characters you are ever likely to read and it cause tremendous friction throughout this story. Everyone around them seems to realize that there is something special and unique about their connection except Rachel and Parker. Each is so busy avoiding the truth and protecting their hearts that they waste a ton of time with other relationships and ignoring their incredible chemistry. They cause a lot of hurt to one another trying to not get hurt themselves. It was frustrating at times and I wanted to knock their two stubborn heads together. Their personal issues and differences seem insurmountable but this is a Harlequin romance so there is always hope!
You do not have to know much about NASCAR to enjoy these books but if you are already a NASCAR fan you will really love this series. I hope there will be a third book about the third Garrison child, Bryan! His character is just begging to be explored.
