Camilla can set her watch by her hunky rocket-scientist neighbor who jogs past her window each day. She relishes each glimpse of his shirtless abs, and is dying to see more. But it’s hard to connect with a man who doesn’t seem to know she exists…
Ivan feels at home in the lab, not in social situations. When he finally approaches his attractive neighbor, it’s not for a date—he wants tutoring in how to behave at an important fundraiser. Ivan doesn’t expect the chemistry between them to be quite so explosive, and is surprised when Cami actually accepts his proposal to embark on a series of “lessons”.
Cami soon discovers Ivan’s schedule isn’t the only thing he likes to be strict about—he needs to be charge in the bedroom as well. She’s shocked at how much she comes to enjoy her submissive side, but wonders if a real relationship is in the equation…

The storyline in The Theory of Attraction was well put together and it didn’t delve too intensely into the BDSM world.

Ivan is a genius and he doesn't have any trouble letting anyone know about his brilliance. Ivan does lack a few social graces and realizes that in order to get the grant money to fund his research he may need a tutor.

The Theory of AttractionisBig Bang Theory meets BDSM. Camilla and Ivan are next door neighbors and, up to now, primarily friends. Everyone around them seems to be a variation on the geeky scientist theme. So when Ivan asks Camilla to help him with some fundraising donor issues, specifically how to socially interact with them better, she treats this as her opportunity to get closer to the Ivan she can only fantasize about. Camilla may start out giving lessons but soon the tables are turned and it is she that is being schooled in the ways of Ivan. Ways that even her fantasies never conjured up. When the lessons are done will this willing woman go to her knees and tell Ivan he is the professor she wants to learn from?
Any of you who can see how Sheldon would be as a Dom (from the Big Bang Theory) will absolutely enjoy this gem. The dialogue is hilarious and heartwarming without being maudlin or upsetting. Surprisingly, beneath the facade of the hot chick and the nerd there are some serious issues touched upon including how we handle dealing with chaos and order in our lives. For Ivan, who simply does not handle this well, Camilla brings to him calmness and a peace as well as support that gives and encourages in the right way. Camilla doesn't really foresee the Ivan that emerges but she is willing to go along as she falls deeper in love with him, putting forward her trust which is a hallmark of a strong relationship most especially if it contains D/s. I think you could call this a pragmatic romance, whatever that means exactly. Here there are human faults and fears but they are dealt with head on. In reality comparing the communication that goes on between BDSM partners in scenes to the issues Ivan has is brilliance. It fits. Although this is not a heavily kinky book by any measure, as someone who does practice the lifestyle much of this story rings true. There are awkward moments where people doubt and there are times when (as the sub) it really is best to just shut up and hang on because the results are going to blow your socks off!
Anyone who has a hankering for the nerdy boys with a kinky twist must simply pick this up!
