In the romance novel When I Remember Love, a beautiful young woman grieving the sudden death of her mother is invited to stay with her favorite aunt in California. As she arrives in Los Angeles, Jenna Holden has no idea that her life is about to change forever.
Jenna’s aunt, Vanessa, a music agent, has just signed Aidan Price, a gifted and promising new performer who bears a striking resemblance to a young Johnny Depp. Aidan has come to Hollywood to compete on American Star, a very popular televised singing competition. Vanessa arranges for Jenna to meet Aidan at lunch, and their connection is instantaneous and electric. From there they begin a sizzling courtship that leads them on a whirlwind journey through the demanding music business and media scrutiny that accompanies Aidan's newfound fame. Despite all the intrusions which result inevitably from success in the entertainment world, Aidan and Jenna create a passionate and loving life together—a life, though, that is soon to become much more complicated than the "easy" life we so often assume comes with fame and fortune.
Chapter 1 When I Remember Love Trish Silver 2008 “That that is, is.” ~ Shakespeare, Twelfth Night
Aidan Price was resting comfortably in the back of the limousine. He was on his way to the venue for his final concert. This would be his last performance in London and the end of his European Tour. He couldn’t wait to get back to California and home to his family. He had never felt more fulfilled. He had the family he longed for and the career that most entertainers could only dream about. Closing his eyes, he smiled as he thought of his wife Jenna; he was still madly in love with her. His life had not really begun until he had met and married her five years ago. They had been blessed with four healthy, beautiful children, and he thought he must be the luckiest man in the world. He had been in Europe for three weeks promoting his seventh CD, and he decided to return home for a short vacation from show business. He wanted to spend more time with his family. He had just spoken to Jenna on his cell phone, and she had sounded so lonely. Teasing her, he had said, “I’m going to be home so much that you’ll want to get rid of me again soon.” She had giggled and said, “Not a chance. Just hurry home, baby.” They both knew that his stardom wouldn’t last forever and that he had to seize the moment before his popularity waned. Right now he was one of the most sought-after singers in America, and he had just broadened his horizons into Europe. He was about to doze off when he heard the dreaded blaring sound of screeching tires. He opened his eyes in horror, his life passing before him, as the truck, which was desperately trying to stop, plowed into them.
Aidan is one of the top contestants on American Star. Jenna is a huge fan of the show and Aidan. He’s not only stunningly gorgeous but has the voice of an angel. After the death of her mother, whom she considered to be one of her best friends, Jenna goes to visit Aunt Vanessa in Los Angeles. Unbeknownst to Jenna, Aidan has just signed with Vanessa and she’ll be meeting him when she goes to lunch with her aunt. What follows is love at first sight for both of them. Will their love survive the pressures that accompany fame?
When I Remember Love is a fast paced contemporary romance that has it all. Love at first sight, a meteoric rise to fame with all that entails and tragedy. You name it, it’s there. It’s a really quick read. The flow is like white water rapids. Aidan and Jenna are joined by a very large cast of characters. While Aidan and Jenna’s love story and lives are the main story there are many subplots that add depth and drama. The book is also full of original songs that compliment the main storyline. Even though there are many explicit love scenes I would still rate it as sweet. I guess it’s the context that enables it to still manage to be sweet. If you want a love story that revolves around real commitment, sensuality, family, hope and sheer determination to overcome all odds then When I Remember Love is just the book for you.
