Jake Duquesne’s last undercover mission for his ultra secret employers left him wounded and recuperating in his cousin Ella’s remote log cabin. He’s hoping, vainly, his enemies won’t be able to track him here. Katarzyna Delany, homicide detective, has just been dumped at the altar for the third time in her life and needs a place to go to get away from life, the universe and everyone. So Ella sends Katarzyna to the cabin with Jake without telling either of them about the other, because she knows that Jake and Kat will have an explosive relationship.
The storyline isn’t new, similar plots can be seen on TV and in books everywhere, but the characters and the intenseness of their relationship more than makes up for this. The heat rating scales the roof and I’d suggest you keep either a nice cold pool, shower, or ready for action partner close to hand when you read this little tale.
