Lara Crosby left Chicago when her career as a big-time political fundraiser turned very ugly. Determined to put the past behind her, she envisions a peaceful new life at her cabin in northern Minnesota. Everything changes on a dark night when a mysterious and attractive stranger suffers an accident outside her cabin.
Jacob Sumner awakes in the wilderness after a car accident with no idea who he is or why he was coming to see Lara Crosby. She's beautiful and sweet, but she's a world away from the gritty world where he makes his living as a private investigator…or is she?
When Lara discovers a wrecked SUV with a bleeding man in it, near her isolated cabin, she take a chance and allows him to stay at her place to recover. He soon discovers that he has amnesia and has no idea of his identity, or why he was, so close to Lara’s place.
What follows is a detective story, with two concurrent themes. Jacob needs to find out who he is and why he is where he is, where his family is and he employs good old detective work to find out. At the same time, he wants to protect Lara and find out who is trying to kill her and by association, kill him.
Through the ugly political scandals of Lara’s former employer, a senator, plus finding out the reasons for Jacob’s dismissal from the Chicago Police Department and eliminating people with reasons to kill them both, they even at times suspect each other. But the surprise twist at the end will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire 200+ pages. Forget-Me-Not is a fast-paced mystery, with lots of tension, both sexual and life threatening, from the first page to the last. I couldn’t put it down and you won’t be able to either.
