Text messaging is all the rage today. Everyone carries a cell phone in one hand or attached to an ear in order to handle phone calls, messages and communicate with friends, coworkers and family while traveling to and from work. But, imagine receiving a text message on your wedding day with a whole room filled with guests from your future husband stating he is not going to show up. Better yet, you are not what he wants in his life and he needs more excitement. You would be Faith West, the jilted bride who was looking forward to honeymooning in Italy. So, why let a little thing like being left at the altar stop you from going on your dream honeymoon? Faith leaves her job, packs her bags and takes that trip to Italy. But, what happens next will surely throw you for a loop. While there she meets Caine Hunter, the hottest man she has ever seen or laid eyes on. Instant connection, attraction and a whole lot more. So, what could be wrong with this? A whole lot—Caine and Faith have a hot and torrid affair that follows her back home to Chicago where she finds out the reason he was there, what his real agenda for striking up a relationship with her was and much more. Faith’s father owns and operates a private investigation company whose competitor hired Caine to get close to Faith to find out whether her father had anything to do with his father’s apparent suicide. She finds out that his real motive was to seduce her in order to learn more about his dad’s death claiming that her dad messed up the investigation. Caine knows in his heart that his dad would not commit suicide and will go up against anyone to prove it, including Faith.
Going back to the states she decides to quit her job as a librarian and go to work for her father hoping to find the answers to what really happened to Caine’s father to prove him wrong. Things begin to heat up as Faith becomes entangled with the investigation, him and much more. As she tries to take one step away from him he gets three steps closer and no matter where she turns, he is right behind her. His father was working on a biofuel project and was accused of passing along corporate secrets. Added to that several members of the team became gravely ill. As the tension rises and the investigation continues one man, Weldon, who was part of this project, might help clarify some of the answers. What happens next will surprise the reader when Faith’s mother asks her to start an investigation about her father’s recent actions causing her to believe he is having an affair.
The twists and turns will certainly keep the reader in suspense. When all the suspects are revealed, the is truth finally told and Faith and Caine have to come to grips with what really happened it his father. Was it suicide or was it murder? Who are the real guilty parties and did her father and Vince King play any role in the investigation? Characters that are well defined and a plot that is easy to follow, Mad, Bad and Blonde is a great read or all those that love a good romance with and interesting ending. Caine and Faith learn some hard lessons in this cute and humorous novel. Trust, faith and loyalty are just a few of the lessons learned and with the help of her cousin Megan, her mom, and Caine she might just be happy. I would recommend this book to other readers and hopefully the author will bring these two back in another novel.
